MRV

Sound measurement, reporting and verification is crucial in order to:

  • track effectiveness and impact of a NAMA
  • foster efficiency improvements within the implementation phase
  • enable agreements between both parties through the quantification of objectives
  • improve the monitoring of a country’s progress in GHG mitigation
  • define what future targets are possible.

Compared to other energy consuming sectors, however, estimating the mitigation impact of transport policies and measures is challenging. We warmly recommend reading Chapter II of our practical Handbook of NAMAs to futher investigate the issue.
